Free, with no account needed
Bible reading and comparison, flashcards, reading plans, and the manual Pastor's Friend dashboard, sermon editor, notes and preaching tools stay free. They are never timed or metered by the AI allowance.
You can read, compare, study and memorise as a guest, without an account and with no time limit. Your points, streaks and progress stay in this browser.
An account is needed only for AI drafting and for keeping copies of your sermons in your account. The sermon editor, notes, memory deck, Preaching Mode and your device backups in Pastor's Friend work without one. What you keep on your device stays on your device unless you choose to import it into an account.
AI trial
A verified account can start a free AI trial. It lasts 14 days from the moment you start it, or until its allowance (equivalent to £1.50 of AI drafting) is used, whichever comes first. No card is needed and nothing renews or converts to a paid plan automatically. Each account can have one trial.
AI drafting needs a verified account. Everything else on the site is available without one.
You can buy a plan at any time, including during your trial. The plan then starts straight away, the trial ends, and any trial allowance you have not used stays available until the day your trial would have ended.

- You pay when you order, then every month on the same date until you cancel. You can cancel at any time on this page; your plan then stops renewing and you keep your allowance until the end of the month you have paid for.
- Extra credit is a one-off payment: £5 adds £4.17 of AI allowance. £10 adds £8.33 of AI allowance. £20 adds £16.67 of AI allowance. It lasts 12 months and never renews.
- Prices are in pounds sterling. Stripe may show you the price in your own currency, with a conversion fee of 2 to 4 per cent, or you can pay in pounds.
- You can cancel within 14 days of buying. Because you ask us to start straight away, you pay for the AI allowance you have already used and we refund the rest.

AI usage and extra credit

If your plan's allowance runs out before it renews, you can add extra credit at any time and keep drafting straight away. Allowance that ends soonest is used first, so your plan's allowance (and any trial allowance you have left) is used before extra credit. Extra credit is used once that runs out (or once what is left is too small for a request) and lasts 12 months from the day you buy it. Each top-up is a one-off card payment through Stripe: it never renews and nothing is charged automatically. You can top up as often as you need; credit from several top-ups adds together.
£5 adds £4.17 of AI allowance, £10 adds £8.33 of AI allowance, £20 adds £16.67 of AI allowance.
How the AI allowance works
- The allowance is five sixths of what you pay, to the nearest penny: of every £6 you pay, £5 is AI allowance. Sermon Starter includes £7.50 each month, Sermon Plus includes £20.00 each month, Ministry Pro includes £40.83 each month.
- Each AI request uses up to three times its calculated provider cost from that allowance. This is an included allowance, not exact pay-as-you-go billing, and you are not charged again for it.
- Before a request starts, the largest amount it could use is set aside, and any unused part is returned when it finishes. Nothing is used for a request that fails before it reaches the AI provider or that produces nothing usable for you. If the outcome is uncertain (for example a timeout), the amount stays set aside for up to 15 minutes and is then released.
- An upgrade starts straight away. You pay only the difference in price for the rest of the month, worked out to the second and shown to you before you order, and the extra AI allowance is added at once: five sixths of that payment. A downgrade takes effect at your next renewal. Unused allowance does not roll over, and nothing is ever charged automatically beyond your plan.
- If you buy a plan during your free trial, the trial ends and your plan starts. Trial allowance you have not used stays available until the day your trial would have ended, and the allowance that ends soonest is used first.
- Extra credit (above) is for accounts with a paid plan. It is added as five sixths of the amount paid, used only once your plan's allowance is used up or too small for a request, and lasts 12 months from purchase, even if your plan ends. If a credit payment is refunded or disputed, any credit left from it is removed.
- If you cancel, renewal stops and any unused allowance stays available until the end of the period you paid for, unless a refund or dispute changes that.
- When AI access ends, your free access, your sermons and your notes are unchanged, and you can still export your data.
- AI drafts are starting points that you must review. Bible quotations come from the site's approved text, not from the AI. AI drafting sends what you type to an external AI provider, so it does not keep that text only on your device.
