The 66 Books

Memorise all 66 books in order in 1 to 5 days, and keep them for life. It's free, and you don't need an account.

Choose your Number Pictures

Each book takes the picture of its number. Either option works, and you can switch later.

Option A: Number Sounds

Each digit has a consonant sound, and each number’s picture is a word made from its sounds. If you forget a picture, you can rebuild it from the sounds.

Option B: Meaning Pictures

Each number’s picture comes from something everybody already knows about that number, so there is nothing to decode: the meaning is the hook.

How it works

Each book takes the picture of its number from your 100 Number Pictures, and a short story joins the picture to the book. The stories run from book to book through each group, so one picture leads you to the next. Five days, five to ten minutes a day.

  1. Day 1: Law and HistoryBooks 1 to 17, then a Quick Quiz
  2. Day 2: Poetry and Major ProphetsBooks 18 to 27, then a Quick Quiz
  3. Day 3: Minor ProphetsBooks 28 to 39, then a Quick Quiz
  4. Day 4: Gospels, Acts and Paul’s lettersBooks 40 to 57, then a Quick Quiz
  5. Day 5: General letters and RevelationBooks 58 to 66, then a Quick Quiz

Then practise against the clock: forwards, backwards, number to book, book to number, and one group at a time. Say all 66 forwards, then backwards, then 10 random numbers with no mistakes, and you earn the 66 Books badge.

The 66 Books song

The 66 Books song is on its way: a call-and-response song to sing along to, hands-free. Until it is ready, this is a placeholder tune.

Verse Walk

Optional: choose ten places along a walk you know well, such as your home, your street or your church, and leave one group of books at each place, in order: the Law at the front door, History in the hall, and so on. Walk the route in your mind, and the groups come back in order.
