Giving online

Gift Terms

The terms for a one-time, voluntary gift to Try The Bible, in plain words: who receives it, what it supports, how it is paid, and what happens if something goes wrong.

Version 2026-10-17.3. Try The Bible.

Giving online is not open yet. These terms will apply to gifts once it opens.

1. Who receives your gift

Try The Bible is run by Alkhadi Koroma as a sole trader and is not a registered charity yet. We plan to set up a registered charity once the website is complete and the Bible translation licences we are seeking are in place. Until then, gifts are not charitable donations and Gift Aid cannot be claimed on them; a gift made before a charity is registered does not become a charitable donation afterwards.

In these terms “we” and “us” mean Alkhadi Koroma, trading as Try The Bible.

Address: Flat 72, Priory Court, 1 Cheltenham Road, London SE15 3BG.

Email: info@trythebible.co.uk. Telephone: 07467 437 773.

2. What your gift supports

Gifts are used for Bible translation licences, the work of adding them to the website, and running Try The Bible.

A gift is not set aside for one purpose: we may use it for any of these.

3. Permission for more translations

Many widely read Bible translations are protected by copyright, and we may only offer them with each publisher’s written permission. We are asking publishers for that permission.

We cannot promise that a publisher will agree, which translations will be added, what permission will cost, or when a translation will appear.

If a permission is refused, takes longer, or costs more than we can meet, your gift is still used for the purposes in section 2. As the homepage says, we will publish confirmed costs and progress as agreements are secured. If a publisher says no, we will tell you.

4. A one-time, voluntary gift

Each gift is one payment. It never renews, and we never take another payment unless you choose to give again.

A gift is voluntary. It does not buy a plan, AI allowance, goods or services, and it gives you no rights or benefits on the website. Reading, memorising and the manual tools stay free whether or not you give.

You can give £5, £10, £15, £20, £25 and £50, or another amount from £1 to £1,000. The amounts are set in pounds sterling. Stripe may show you the amount in your own currency: if you pay in it, Stripe’s exchange rate includes a conversion fee of 2 to 4 per cent. You can choose to pay in pounds instead, and your card provider then converts the amount and may charge a fee. For a larger gift, email us.

5. How your gift is paid

You pay on a secure page run by Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach this website.

Stripe asks for your email address and card details, and may email you a receipt. You do not need an account with us.

Your gift is received only when Stripe confirms the payment to this website. If you leave Stripe’s page without paying, or the payment does not go through, nothing is taken.

We keep a short record of each gift, without your name, email address or card details. The privacy policy says what the record holds and how long it is kept.

6. Mistakes and refunds

If you gave by mistake, for example the wrong amount or the same gift twice, email info@trythebible.co.uk within 30 days of giving, with the date and the amount. We will refund it in full to the card you used.

If you would like a gift refunded for any other reason, email us and we will consider it fairly.

Refunds are made through Stripe, to the card you used. If you paid in your own currency, the refund goes back in that currency at the same exchange rate, so the amount you paid is refunded in full in that currency. Your legal rights are not affected by these terms.

7. Questions and complaints

Please email info@trythebible.co.uk with any question or complaint about a gift. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in the courts where you live.

8. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, the new version applies only to gifts made after the change. Each gift’s record keeps the version you agreed to.
